Eagles FLYING High Into DECA State!
December 17, 2020
With the DECA Districts complete we’ve had a large amount of students qualify for the state DECA competition. In fact, 18 students have qualified with amazing placements in their respective event categories! Out of those 18 students 7 placed in the top 3 of their respective event categories. Taking 1st place in “Professional Selling” was junior Evan Smith who will also be competing to be a DECA state officer as well as Samuel Alamos who took 1st in “Principles of Finance.” We then had 2 more people who took 2nd place who were Amanda Reyes and Sullivan DeHerrera in “Sports and Entertainment” and “Automotive Service.” The last 3 top competitors who placed in the top 3 of their respective event categories were Skylar Clark, Isaiah T. Martinez, and Karina Ruiz. These 3 placed in the top 3 in “Apparel and Accessories Management,” “Principles Of Marketing,” and “Principles of Finance.” These are 7 of the 18 students who qualified with the other 11 being Aubrey Cortez, Quadair Martin, Randi Garcia, Brittney Byrd, Bethany Garcia, Alex Apodaca, Kayla Valdez, Marli Terry, Katie Austin, Mikea Martinez, and Hanniah Montoya. All these students did a wonderful job preparing and executing their role plays. They all did an amazing job and definitely impressed those judges. Way to go Eagles! Can’t forget the amazing job Jacqueline Armenta (DECA Director) did preparing these students to set them up for success. Also, Pueblo East High School finished 2nd in an online fundraising campaign.
